R-22 refrigerant is alive and well. The installed customer base in both air conditioning and commercial equipment is so huge that even though the manufacture of R-22 is banned, the world is flooded with R-22, and modern methods of recovery and remanufacturing will ensure an abundant supply for the next century.

EPA heads have issued a new directive allowing manufacturers to manufacture R-22 systems if shipped with recycled refrigerant or shipped dry for field charging.

So, if you need or want an R-22 unit, they are available, for a premium.
