MEDICAL SERIES CHILLERS
Mission Critical – MRI, CT & PET Scan & Linear Accelerator Chillers.
American Chillers engineers process cooling systems for MRI machines, linear accelerators, CT scanners, and surgical suites — for every major equipment manufacturer, direct or through our contractor and rep network. Longer track record. Better pricing. Faster lead times.
Chiller downtime at a medical facility is not an inconvenience — it means an MRI suite goes dark, a cancer patient’s radiation treatment is delayed, or a surgical suite loses precision temperature control. Standard cooling solutions are not engineered for the unique demands of medical imaging and therapy equipment. Are you facing any of these risks?
A $3–5 million MRI machine or an active linear accelerator treatment schedule cannot wait for a chiller that was not engineered for the job. Off-the-shelf units routinely fail under the variable load profiles of medical equipment.
Most medical facilities have no automatic failover if their process chiller fails or needs servicing. Without an Automatic City Water Switchover panel, every chiller service event is a potential patient-care disruption and loss of revenue.
Equipment manufacturers like Varian, Siemens, and GE refer you to preferred chiller vendors at a price premium. Many facilities do not know they can buy from an experienced manufacturer at significantly better pricing.
Some medical chiller vendors use proprietary components that force you to wait for their technicians and their parts. American Chillers are built with premium industry-standard components any qualified local HVAC or refrigeration contractor can source and service immediately.
“The service after the sale is fantastic. Russell always answers the phone, even on his day off. I had an emergency on Dec 23 when they were closed but Russell took my call and walked my local technician through the steps to find and fix the problem. Anyone can sell a unit. It’s how they respond to issues that sets American Chillers apart.”Verified Google Review — American Chillers Customer
American Chillers has been engineering process cooling systems for medical imaging and radiation therapy equipment since the mid-1980s — when MRI machines first came to market commercially. That means we have been solving medical process cooling challenges from the very beginning of the industry, accumulating application-specific knowledge that no newer entrant can replicate.
Over those decades we have built and installed chillers meeting the factory chilled water specifications for every major medical equipment manufacturer, on installations ranging from community oncology centers to major hospital systems across the United States. Our medical customers receive the same depth of model-specific technical documentation — specification sheets, technical data sheets, and price lists — that you would expect from any major medical chiller supplier.
Many of our medical chiller customers come to us directly or through our contractor and rep network because they have learned that four decades of hands-on medical chiller engineering — starting when MRI was in its infancy — delivers the kind of mission-critical reliability that comes only from experience.
Many hospitals and oncology centers purchase American Chillers directly, while others work through our network of trusted HVAC and refrigeration contractors and manufacturer’s reps. Either way, you benefit from 30 years of engineering expertise and pricing that consistently beats OEM-referred vendors — because we engineer and build the equipment ourselves, right here in the USA. And because we build domestically with readily available components, our lead times are almost always faster than the competition, so your project stays on schedule.

The ACWS panel is American Chillers’ solution to the single greatest risk in medical process cooling: chiller downtime taking a mission-critical imaging machine or active treatment suite offline. Available bundled with every American Chiller system — or as a standalone retrofit for any brand of medical process chiller.
Detects high fluid temperature or low flow conditions and automatically switches cooling to city water supply, keeping your medical equipment operational without requiring manual action from facility staff.
Triggers an audible alarm at switchover and routes high temperature and low flow alerts through your existing building automation system via BACnet MS/TP, BACnet IP, or Modbus RTU/TCP — no additional gateways required. Or through a networked PC.
Provides fluid temperatures in/out, pressure, and flow rate from a touchscreen interface on the panel or through a remote panel and BMS integration — giving your engineering team full visibility at all times.
Supports manual initiation so facility engineers can schedule planned chiller servicing without any impact to medical equipment uptime.
Brand-agnostic — installs on systems with Filtrine, KKT, Dimplex, or any other manufacturer’s existing chiller or building central chilled water system.
No proprietary installation requirements — your existing service contractor can install and commission the ACWS panel.
Trigger detected: Panel sensors identify high fluid temperature or low flow rate condition in the chiller loop.
Automatic switchover: Panel switches the cooling loop to city water supply — medical equipment remains fully operational.
Alarms triggered: Audible alarm activates at the panel. Alert simultaneously routed to facility BMS/BAS.
Facility notified: Engineering team dispatches service — chiller is repaired while city water maintains cooling.
System restored: Manual or automatic return to chiller cooling once service is complete.
