We engineer chillers for saltwater pools, fresh water or chlorine. Please specify which type of pool when ordering. The heat exchangers are different. Yes, many serious athletes and therapy centers need to use the cold plunge pools year around. American Chillers makes chillers that can operate year around for all climates, even when the outdoor temperature is -20F degrees, the indoor temperature is 80F degrees and the pool water needs to be 45F degrees. We can do it!
Plunge pools for horses (equine) and other animals
Do you know that we can build a chiller for pet (canine) plunges and livestock as well. Yes, it is becoming a big thing. There are equine cold plunge pools for horses and help to speed recovery after an injury and, also are used to cool them down during hot summer months. How does a horse get in a cold plunge pool? Well, it’s a little different than for people. There is often a door that opens so the horse can step into the pool and sometimes a step or two. Sometimes, the pool has a treadmill or other hydrotherapy type treatment. If you have the vessel, American Chillers can cool it!

Yes, now therapy centers and physical therapists are using hydrotherapy to help speed recovery time. There are in-water treadmills, bikes and ellipticals all of which, are often used with cold water therapy.
What is a cold plunge or ice bath?
Just like the name implies, a cold plunge, cold water immersion therapy or ice bath is a pool used to cool down, mostly for sports therapy and recovery after exercise or surgery, but has evolved into healthy living practices and even weight loss.
What is the typical water temperature for a cold plunge pool?
The typical cold plunge pool temperature is between 45F degrees and 55F degrees, although sometimes even colder water is desired. American Chillers can build a chiller for colder water temperatures. Consult a salesperson for details.
