Why American Chillers

Engineered for Pool Water — Not Adapted From It

Off-the-shelf chillers are not designed for the corrosiveness of pool water, the demands of continuous filtration, or the wide range of cold plunge operating conditions. American Chillers engineers each system specifically for the application.

Corrosion-Resistant Heat Exchangers

Stainless steel, cupronickel, and titanium evaporator options for fresh water, chlorinated, saltwater, and heavy brine pools. The right metallurgy for your water chemistry.

24/7 Continuous Operation

Commercial cold plunge pools run around the clock. Our chillers are designed for continuous-duty operation in all weather conditions — from desert heat to sub-zero winters.

All Climates — Indoor & Outdoor

High ambient condensers rated to 105°F. Low ambient options for operation down to -20°F outdoor temperature. Split systems for indoor pools in freezing climates.

Direct Pricing — No Distributor Markup

We manufacture our chillers in West Columbia, SC and sell direct to contractors and end users. No distributor markup, no middleman — just factory pricing and factory support.

Factory Engineering Support

Our engineers are available to assist with equipment selection, chilled water specifications, and design questions. Factory startup and training available for every installation.

Custom Engineering for Tough Applications

Equine plunge pools, hydrotherapy treadmills, heavy brine systems — if your project has unique requirements, we can engineer a solution. No project is too challenging.

Proven track record

Trusted by Elite Sports Organizations, Universities & Commercial Facilities

American Chillers has been supplying cold plunge chillers to the most demanding customers in the country — professional sports teams, major universities, and high-traffic commercial facilities that cannot afford downtime or equipment failure.

Professional Sports Teams

The top athletes and elite sports organizations depend on American Chillers for keeping their therapy plunge pools cold — including the Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bears, Denver Nuggets, and LA Mighty Ducks.

Colleges & Universities

Many large and small universities rely on American Chillers for cold plunge pools used by athletic programs — including Ohio State University and the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where larger multi-athlete plunge pools are in use.

Commercial Spas & Wellness Centers

Health clubs, therapy centers, recovery studios, and commercial spas require chillers that run continuously and reliably. We engineer for heavy commercial usage with continuous filtration and any water treatment chemistry.

Equine & Veterinary Facilities

We build chillers for equine cold plunge pools and hydrotherapy systems used for horse recovery, injury prevention, and cooling — including heavy brine and specialized water treatment systems for veterinary applications.

“Cold plunges make you stronger over time by building up a tolerance to the cold water, which helps you to build up a tolerance to other stresses and challenges in life. The right chiller is the foundation of a reliable cold therapy program.”

Engineering expertise

Engineered for Every Water Type, Climate & Pool Configuration

Off-the-shelf chillers are not manufactured to handle the corrosiveness of pool water nor the unique demands of cold plunge. American Chillers engineers chillers for every water treatment chemistry and pool configuration — fresh water, chlorine, saltwater, and heavy brines used for equine applications.

Commercial spas, therapy centers, and training facilities use cold plunge year-round. Our chillers operate in all climates — even when outdoor temperature is -20°F, indoor temperature is 80°F, and pool water needs to be 45°F. We have a solution for every installation scenario.

  • Saltwater & chlorine pools — cupronickel or titanium evaporators
  • Heavy brine for equine applications — stainless steel options
  • Indoor pools in freezing climates — split system configurations
  • Noise-sensitive facilities — ultra-quiet KQ models under 60 dB

Frequently asked questions

Cold Plunge Chiller Questions, Answered

Chiller sizing depends on pool volume, desired water temperature, ambient conditions, water type, and whether the pool runs continuously or intermittently. Contact our engineering team with your pool specs and we will select the correct chiller and provide a quotation and spec sheet. American Chillers offers models from ¾ HP (small residential tubs) up to 10 nominal tons for large commercial pools.

Standard cold plunge pool temperatures run between 45°F and 55°F. American Chillers can achieve water temperatures down to 38°F for customers who require colder water. Contact us with your target water temperature and pool volume for an equipment recommendation.

Yes. American Chillers offers low ambient options for year-round operation in cold climates down to approximately -20°F outdoor temperature. For indoor cold plunge pools in climates that freeze, we recommend our split system configuration — keeping the condensing unit outdoors and the water-side components indoors where they won’t freeze.

For chlorinated fresh water pools, cupronickel tube-in-tube evaporators provide excellent corrosion resistance and durability. For saltwater pools or pools with aggressive water chemistry, we recommend titanium evaporators. For heavy brines used in equine applications, stainless steel options are available. Contact our team with your water treatment chemistry for a specific recommendation.

Yes — the CPPC KQ (Quiet) series operates under 60 decibels and is specifically designed for sound-sensitive installations such as hotel spas, wellness centers, and residential applications. The KQ can also be installed within 6 inches of a wall and is suitable for wall mounting, making it ideal for space-constrained installations.

Yes. American Chillers has experience engineering chillers for equine cold plunge pools, hydrotherapy treadmills, and veterinary recovery applications. Equine plunge pools often require heavy brine or specialized water treatment. Contact us with your vessel specifications, water type, and operating requirements for a custom engineering solution.

Yes. Factory-authorized technician startup, training, and service are available as options on all commercial product lines. We also offer factory-authorized contractor installation for projects that require it. Contact our team to discuss startup support options for your installation.

The Elite Series carries a 1-year parts limited warranty. The SPPC and CPPC commercial series carry a 1-year parts warranty and a 5-year compressor limited warranty as standard. Extended labor warranties, preventive maintenance contracts, and custom service plans are available. Contact our team for warranty policy details.
